Chamber of Commerce of Uzbekistan and Ukraine signed a number of bilateral documents for the development of investment and trade and economic Uzbek-Ukrainian cooperation, Trend reports referring to the press service of Uzbek Chamber of Commerce.

On May 19, Uzbekistan’s Tashkent hosted the first meeting of the Uzbek-Ukrainian Business Council and a Joint Business Forum, the key topic of which was the strengthening of bilateral ties between the business communities of the two countries, as a decisive factor in the further development of investment and trade and economic Uzbek-Ukrainian cooperation.

Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Evgeny Eninduring his speech noted that trade and economic ties and cooperation between the two countries are developing despite the COVID-19 pandemic.

In turn, the President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Ukraine Gennady Chizhikov emphasized the positive dynamics of the development of relations between the two countries and noted that the states are paying special attention to the consistent expansion of economic partnership in priority areas for Uzbekistan and Ukraine, and also called for the intensification of interaction and cooperation between representatives of the business community two countries.

At the same time, Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan Adham Ikramov drew attention to the fact that the Chambers of Commerce and Industry of both countries need to continue to work on establishing and deepening industrial cooperation, and ensuring favorable conditions for mutual trade in goods and services.

It is reported that within the framework of the event, a number of bilateral documents were also signed, including the roadmap for further cooperation between the CCIs of Uzbekistan and Ukraine, the Protocol of the first meeting of the Business Council, as well as the Agreement on cooperation between the territorial chambers of the CCIs of the parties.

According to the information, on May 20, 2021, it is planned to hold the Uzbek-Ukrainian Business Forum in Uzbekistan’s Samarkand region, as well as negotiations between representatives of the business community in the B2B format, visits to industrial enterprises of the region, where the participant will be able to substantively discuss the creation of joint ventures and the conclusion of mutually beneficial trade agreements.

In 2020, the volume of mutual trade amounted to $437.9 million (an increase of 14.1 percent), including exports - $122.8 million (an increase of 2.8 percent), imports - $315.2 million (an increase of 19.2 percent). As of April 1, 2021, 129 enterprises with the participation of Ukrainian capital operate on the territory of Uzbekistan, including 72 joint ventures and 57 individual entrepreneurs.
