Uzbekistan from January through June 2021 exported to Azerbaijan carpets worth $3.7 million, Trend reports with reference to the State Statistics Committee of Uzbekistan.
According to the State Statistics Committee, Uzbekistan during the reporting period exported carpets in the amount of $16.5 million.
It is reported that, compared to the same period last year, the export of carpets from Uzbekistan increased by $6.3 million.
In particular, the main countries-exporters of Uzbek carpets in 1H2021 were Kyrgyzstan - $4.9 million, Azerbaijan - $3.7 million and Afghanistan - $2.4 million.
At the same time Russia exported Uzbek carpets worth $1.9 million, Saudi Arabia - $1.5 million, Kazakhstan - $1.3 million, Tajikistan – $288,300, the US – $169,300, Ukraine – $141,900 and Turkey – $114,700.
In total, Uzbekistan exported carpets to 15 foreign countries in January-June 2021.
It is reported that the largest manufacturers of carpet products in Uzbekistan are Khorazm Gilamlari JSC in the Khorezm region and the Samarkand carpet factory.
Also, according to the June decree of the President of Uzbekistan, a number of benefits were provided to carpet manufacturers. Thus, starting from 2021, once every two years in October, Tashkent will host the International Festival of Hand-made Oriental Carpets.
