Bulk of Uzbekistan’s export of fat and oil products falls on Tajikistan

The largest volume of fat and oil products from January through July 2021 from Uzbekistan was exported to Tajikistan - $7.5 million, Trend reports with reference to the press service of the Association of Fat and Oil Enterprises of Uzbekistan (Uzegmoisanoat).

According to the information, the enterprises of the association during the reporting period exported fat and oil products worth almost $12 million to 12 foreign countries, exceeding the forecast by more than $1.1 million.

The list of the most exported products was headed by feed ($6.5 million), margarine ($1.8 million), soy protein ($936,000) and vegetable oil ($892,000).

It is reported that the largest volume of fat and oil products was exported to Tajikistan ($7.5 million), Turkmenistan ($1.7 million), Kazakhstan ($1.2 million) and Afghanistan ($892,000).

According to official data, today in Uzbekistan there are more than 240 oil and fat enterprises, which in 2020 produced about 280,000 tons of vegetable oils and more than 650,000 tons of meals.

Uzegmoisanoat noted the total annual capacity of oil-extracting enterprises amounts to more than 4.3 million tons of oilseed processing, of which 3.3 million tons are for processing cotton seeds and more than one million tons for soybean and sunflower seeds.

According to experts' forecasts, the processing capacity in Uzbekistan will grow in the coming years, but the capacity for processing cotton seeds will decline. It is reported that the country is expected to process nearly 1.1 million tons per year of sunflower seeds by 2022.
