BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 14. World Bank will allocate some $296 million for Uzbekistan to support the country’s projects for improving energy efficiency in social facilities and the project of restoring degraded forested lands, Deputy Prime Minister of Uzbekistan Jamshid Kuchkarov wrote on his Twitter page, Trend reports.

According to Kuchkarov, from the total amount of money, some $143 million in Uzbekistan will improve energy efficiency in social facilities, while some $142 million will make it possible to restore degraded forested lands in the country.

At the same time, Uzbekistan and World Bank have signed 2 more grant agreements worth $11 million to finance the events and consulting services within the framework of the second project.

"These agreements will contribute to the widespread use of green energy and an ecologically clean environment in our country," the publication says.

Back in March 2023, WB approved loans of about $12 million for the construction of two solar power plants with a total capacity of 440 MW in Uzbekistan’s Samarkand and Jizzakh regions (to $6 million for each of the plants).
