BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 12. Uzbekistan has begun the construction of the two combined-cycle gas installations with a total capacity of 900 MW on the territory adjacent to the Talimarjan thermal power plant (TPP), Trend reports via the Uzbek Ministry of Energy.
Talimarjan TPP, located in the Nishan district of Uzbekistan’s Kashkadarya region, was put into operation in 2004.
The ministry says that new installations will generate an additional 7.2 billion kWh of electricity per year, thus saving 520,000 cubic meters of natural gas.
According to the preliminary calculations, the combined-cycle gas installations will be put into operation by the end of 2025.
Furthermore, recently Uzbekistan installed solar panels with a total capacity of 1 MW at the Talimarjan TPP.
The panels will generate an additional 1.8 million kWh of electricity per year, thus saving 400,000 cubic meters of natural gas.
