BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 29. Uzbekistan imported 3,816 electric vehicles worth $120 million from 10 countries worldwide from January through May 2023, Trend reports.
According to the Statistics Agency of the country, the import of electric vehicles has increased by 2,846 units, nearly quadrupling, compared to the corresponding period last year.
In particular, out of the total, 3,480 electric vehicles were imported from China during the reporting period.
At the same time, Uzbekistan imported electric vehicles from Hong Kong (256 cars), Germany (42), the UAE (16), South Korea (11), and the US (6).
This surge in electric vehicle imports showcases Uzbekistan's growing interest in adopting sustainable transportation solutions and transitioning towards cleaner mobility options. The increased import figures demonstrate a positive trend towards embracing electric vehicles, which not only contribute to reducing emissions but also promote technological advancements and drive the growth of the electric vehicle market in the country.
