Air Products to invest in new projects in Uzbekistan

TASKENT, Uzbekistan, September 19. The US Air Products company plans to implement a new investment program worth over $10 billion in Uzbekistan, Trend reports.

The news followed a recent meeting between President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Chairman of the Board, President and Chief Executive Officer of Air Products Seifi Ghasemi in New York.

During the meeting, the parties discussed further expansion of the strategic partnership as well as the progress made in the implementation of current projects. Promising projects in the fields of coal gasification, the production of technical gases such as hydrogen and ammonium, and the utilization of acid gases were also considered.

Moreover, the portfolio of projects includes the introduction of innovative developments in the food industry.

Currently, Air Products is implementing projects for the processing of industrial gases at Uzbekistan GTL, the production of synthesis gas, oxygen, and nitrogen, and the release of liquefied carbon dioxide on the basis of Uzbekistan’s Navoiyazot. The company has allocated investments in the amount of over $1 billion in the development of these projects in the last two years.

Earlier this year, Uzbekistan and Air Products discussed the implementation of supply projects for liquefied natural gas process technology in Uzbekistan. Moreover, a protocol aimed at improving the investment environment in Uzbekistan was signed during a session of the Foreign Investors Council in Uzbekistan’s Tashkent in August 2023. The protocol included proposals for enhancing the investment climate in Uzbekistan.
