TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, November 15. Uzbekistan has transported 6.8 million tons of transit cargo from January through September of 2023, Trend reports.
As per data provided by Uzbekistan’s State Statistics Committee, the majority of the cargo, specifically 5.4 million tons, was transported by rail, constituting 80.3 percent of the overall cargo volume.
Additionally, 1.4 million tons were transported by road, representing 19.7 percent of the total cargo volume.
Meanwhile, Uzbekistan will start imposing seasonal restrictions on the movement of trucks, road trains, and trailers in high-temperature seasons in the country, starting in 2024.
Moreover, additional traffic rules will be developed to regulate traffic on the roads and import trucks and trailers (except special vehicles and dump trucks) with a total permitted weight of more than 44 tons.
Under the new set of regulations, vehicles will undergo a significant transformation in management, which includes the allocation of distinct identification numbers and technical passports for each vehicle.
Overall, Uzbekistan’s exports by road have witnessed a downward trend in 2023 compared to the rapid growth through 2022. This trend is largely determined by the Russian direction, which decreased by 39 percent year-on-year and 27 percent compared to the second quarter of 2023.
