TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, December 1. Uzbekistan plans to launch 141 projects worth $2 billion for increasing the competitiveness of domestic tech products in 2024, Trend reports.
The plans were announced during the meeting between Uzbekistan’s President Shavkat Mirziyoyev and the representatives of the country’s tech industry.
Moreover, $100 million will be allocated for state support of the introduction of advanced technologies, innovations and international standards in the county.
Meanwhile, since 2017, Uzbekistan has launched 224 projects worth $640 million in the electrical industry. By the end of 2023, the country plans to increase the volume of tech exports to $1 billion.
The import of electrical equipment to Uzbekistan amounted to $800.8 million in 2022, which is a 42 percent increase compared to 2021 calculations.
Along with the growth of supplies abroad, Uzbekistan has also increased investments in the electrical industry, as the disbursed investment volume reached $150.6 million in 2021, compared to $99.7 million in 2017.
The highest level of investments was recorded in 2020, reaching $193.8 million.
