TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, January 25. China's BYD plans to assemble electric buses in Uzbekistan, Trend reports.
This was discussed during a meeting between the president of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and the president of BYD company Wang Chuanfu.
President Mirziyoyev visited the headquarters and technology center of the leading Chinese BYD company in Shenzhen.
The presentation of the company's achievements, the demonstration of manufactured and promising types of automobiles and other vehicles, as well as a new generation of technologies and advanced developments of the company, were held.
The head of Uzbekistan, together with the president of the company, Wang Chuanfu, took part in the inauguration ceremony of the project to assemble hybrid and electric cars in the Jizzakh region with a capacity of 50,000 units per year.
The president pointed out the need to expand the model range in the near future, taking into account market demand, and increase the production capacity to 300,000 units per year.
The company's plans to set up assembly of BYD electric buses in Uzbekistan, localization of spare parts, and establishment of engineering and service centers were also supported.
During the visit, President Mirziyoyev was given a Yangwang U8 car as a gift to mark the delivery of the 10,000th car of the company to Uzbekistan.
The company is a global leader in the production of modern, innovative cars and new-generation batteries.
