TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, May 20. The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) has signed mandate letters on long-term financing of Uzbekistan’s Samarkand electric buses and Namangan electric bus projects, Trend reports.

According to Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Transport, the documents were signed during a meeting between Uzbekistan’s Deputy Minister of Transport Ilkhomjon Abdugafarov and the management of the EBRD Infrastructure Department.

During the meeting, the sides discussed financing the project of reconstruction of the 4P160 Urgench - Mangit highway (70 km), which is part of the Trans-Caspian Transport Corridor.

Meanwhile, the EBRD has allocated Uzbekistan a loan of $238 million to modernize the A380 Urgench - Khanka - Khazarasp - Tashsoka - Amu Darya highway and build a bridge over the Amu Darya river.

The sovereign loan will help rehabilitate about 81 kilometers of the 4P156 highway and build a bridge over the Amu Darya River in the Khorezm region.

Central Asia's biggest EBRD aid has gone to Uzbekistan for four years. The majority of the bank's 4.42 billion euros in 151 projects nationally support private entrepreneurship.
