Russian Ambassador Summoned to FM

( Fars News Agency) - Iranian Foreign Ministry summoned Russian Ambassador to Tehran Alexander Sadovnikov to voice Tehran's strong protest at the murder of the son of an Iranian embassy staff member in Moscow.

During the meeting, Director General of the Foreign Ministry's Department for the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) Saffari noted repeated assaults on Iranian nationals in Russia in recent years, and demanded Russian judicial authorities and officials to launch proper investigation into such cases and find and punish those in charge of such incidents.

For his part, the Russian envoy voiced deep regret over the incident and vowed to immediately inform Moscow of Iran's protest.

Sadovnikov also described increased assaults on Russian and foreign nationals in recent years as a source of concern for his country's officials.

Also earlier on Monday Iranian ambassador to Moscow met with Russian deputy foreign minister to voice Iran's strong protest at the aforesaid crime. The Iranian diplomat also called for a rapid probe into the issue to track down the culprits.
