The Afghan market is a vital and strategic market which is unexplored and interested in Iranian goods and services, said the secretary-general of the Joint Chamber of Iran and Afghanistan.

The Mehr News Agency quoted Mozafar Alikhani in a conference on approaches for export to Afghanistan in Isfahan saying that unfortunately requirements of the Afghan market have not yet been recognized by Iran. Other countries, namely Pakistan, Turkey and India, have more influence than Iran in this market.

He noted that due to the proximity of Iran with Afghanistan the transportation cost is drastically reduced, and added that due to the Afghan people's appreciation of Iranian products and services in the past years Afghanistan is a potential market for Iranian products and services.

Alikhani also said that Afghanistan is a good market for Iranian medicine and medical services.

Afghanistan shares a long and intertwined history with Iran. There are deep linguistic and culture ties between the two countries.
