Moscow considers Iranian officials' statements on illegality to hold a separate meeting of the Presidents of four Caspian counties, including Russia, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan as far-fetched ones.
"In this case, there it is a meeting of the CIS countries. Such meetings were held repeatedly in various format," a diplomatic source in Moscow told Interfax.
"No documents concerning the cooperation in the Caspian Sea, signing of which would be impossible without Iran, have not been prepared for signing at the meeting in Aktau," a source said.
"The four presidents have a lot to talk about," the source added.
Iranian Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki has recently stated that the upcoming summit of Caspian countries in Aktau, is contrary to Iranian national interests.
