Iran’s top official: IAEA not act under diplomatic pressures from outside

Iran Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ramin Mehmanparast urged the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) to maintain its technical status within the framework of the Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT), Iranian news agency ILNA reports.

Talking about the recent report of the IAEA director general, he told reporters Tuesday "Such reports suffer the weak point that they are under the influence of diplomatic pressures made by certain countries."
The agency should not act under diplomatic pressures from outside the agency and should only move within its legal duties, he said.
The Islamic Republic of Iran continues its cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency in an excellent way, he added.
In response to a question about whether Iran was enriching 22 kilograms of uranium to 20 percent in the country, he confirmed the report and said we had already announced it and the IAEA is informed about the issue.
