Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad called for designing a roadmap on role of women in salvation of the mankind, IRNA reported.
He made the remarks when addressing the opening ceremony of the third OIC ministerial meeting on women affairs in Tehran on Sunday.
He stressed the role of women in salvation of the mankind and underlined the need for interaction and exchange of views on working out a charter on role of women in saving the humanity today.
He believed such a roadmap would help the world movement to restore rights of people especially women.
The 3rd ministerial meeting of the Organization of the Islamic Conference on women affairs is to explore major issues related to women in Muslim countries.
The three-day gathering is to discuss the magnificent role played by women in Islamic societies as well as further promotion of women's constructive participation in various social, economic, political and cultural activities.
Presenting a powerful image of a Muslim woman based on Islamic teachings is one of the major goals of the meeting.
Representatives from a number of OIC member states including Lebanon, Egypt, Sudan, Syria, Somalia, Maldives, Mali, Malaysia, Pakistan, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan Republic and Bangladesh have participated in the gathering.
Female ministers from Islamic countries and a number of heads of OIC institutions are also among participants of the event.
The two first OIC ministerial meetings on women affairs were respectively held in Turkey (2006) and Egypt (2007).
