Iran regrets over the protests from the Netherlands, as the Iranian court sentenced Dutch citizen Zahra Behrami to death in connection with serious crimes committed by her, in particular drug trafficking, Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ramin Mehmanparast was quoted as saying by the Fars news agency.
The Netherlands suspended diplomatic contacts with Iran after the execution of a 45-year-old woman with dual Dutch-Iranian citizenship, Zahra Behrami, who was accused of drug smuggling. According to members of her family, the case against Bahrami was fabricated after her arrest during anti-government demonstrations in 2009.
