Iran's Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi has discussed regional developments and Tehran-Baghdad relations in a meeting with the visiting Iraqi vice president, Adel Abdol-Mahdi, Press TV reported.
During the Wednesday meeting, both sides focused on cooperation in various areas and underlined the further development of cooperation, Iran's Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
Referring to Iraq's capacities to play an active role in regional issues, Salehi expressed hope that cooperation between neighbors would pave the way for Iraq to play a prominent role in the region.
Abdol-Mahdi, who also heads the Iraqi National Alliance, pointed to Iran's position in the region, adding that regional issues can only be resolved through the collective efforts of regional nations.
