Hezbollah dismisses the US accusation that Iran plotted to kill the Saudi envoy in the country, saying such allegations aim to break Iranian resistance against Washington regional policies, Press TV reported.

"The United States is currently marketing its false accusations against Iran because Iran is the main obstacle to the realization of their plans in the region," Hezbollah Deputy Secretary General Sheikh Naim Qassem said on Tuesday, IRNA reported.

On October 11, the US Justice Department alleged that two Iranian agents conspired to assassinate the Saudi ambassador to Washington, Adel Al-Jubeir, a claim rejected by different Iranian officials.

Sheikh Qassem dismissed the US allegations against Iran for having a movie plot.

"By hurling such ugly accusations, the US aims to tarnish the image of Iran in Muslim and Arab countries," the Hezbollah official stated.

"After the failure of its polices and the problems it has been faced with due to the occupation of countries in the Middle East, the US noticed that Iran is the main regional player and as a result it is directly targeting Tehran," he added.

Sheikh Qassem said Washington plans to create a rift among Muslims and cover its failures in the region by hurling baseless accusations against Iran.

He hailed Iran's resistance in the past 33 years against economic sanctions, invasion, occupation, and foreign pressure. He emphasized that despite all differences Muslim nations stand as one and constitute a major power.
