About 30-40 current members of the Iranian parliament (Majlis) have been reportedly disqualified by the executive boards of the administration from competing in the ongoing parliamentary election campaign, the unofficial news sources said.

Ali Motahhari, Morteza Katouzian and Alireza Mahjoub are among the prominent mentioned MPs which have been disqualified, the Mehr news agency reported.

Iranian Interior Minister Mostafa Mohammad-Najjar announced on December 30 that about 5,283 candidates were registered for the parliamentary elections across the country, which will be held on March 2, 2012.
