Iranian Deputy Oil Minister Javad Owji said during last solar year (ended at March 19) Iran pumped 110-120 million cubic meters of gas into gas reservoirs, and Iran tries to reconnoiter at least 40 new gas reservoirs until the end of the Fifth National Development Plan (until 2015).
According to Mehr News Agency, Owji said that in some winter days, daily gas consumption reached above 560 mcm last year, then necessity of pumping gas into the reservoirs become more highlighted.
Iran's daily gas production according to official statements is 600 mcm, while 13 gas processing plants currently operate in the country.
Iran signed gas contracts with Turkmenistan and Turkey, Iran imports about 24 mcm/d of gas from Turkmenistan and export 26-28 mcm/d of gas to Turkey.
Iran's oil reserves rank second in the world with about 35 trillion cubic meters after Russia.
