Sturgeons seedlings weighing up to 60 grams have been released into the Gorganroud River, north of Iran, which flows into the Caspian Sea, the head of Iran's Fishery Organization said.

The move is in line with preserving sturgeon fish species in the Caspian Sea, Gholamreza Razzaqi added, the IRNA News Agency reported.

Last calendar year, some 5 million sturgeon seedlings were released into the sea, he said, adding that the Caspian Sea states should know that Iran is determined to preserve fish species in the Caspian Sea.
