The price of steel rebars and iron sheets has increased 15 to 25 percent in Iran, which makes it difficult construction companies to stay afloat.
An Iranian construction hardware producer, Mohammad Artin, told the Iranian Students' New Agency (ISNA) that the Isfahan's Mobarekeh Steel Company's decision to increase prices by this much is unprecedented.
Artin said his company had 30 employees before the price increase but now employs only eight people.
Working in Iran's industrial sector is tough because imports are uncontrolled despite Iranian materials' good quality, said Mr. Artin The economy is under stress because of the international sanctions levied against Iran, its oil industry and its Central Bank.
