Chairman of Majlis' Commission on National Security and Foreign Policy Alaeddin Boroujerdi said on Saturday that the Islamic Republic of Iran will continue with support for Syrian government and nation, IRNA reported.
Syria plays a pivotal role in campaign against Zionist regime, he said.
Boroujerdi made the remarks in a meeting with Syrian Parliament Speaker Muhammad Jihad al-Laham.
Boroujerdi called for expansion of all-out relations and cooperation such as parliamentary cooperation.
Forming Iran-Syria friendship and parliamentary group will prepare ground for further expansion of relations between the two sides, he said.
The Syrian parliament speaker, for his part, thanked the Iranian government and nation for their support for Syrian government and nation in the crisis masterminded by western and Arab governments.
Expansion of parliamentary relations helps deepen and bolster relations between the two countries, he said.
Boroujerdi, heading a delegation arrived in Damascus on Saturday morning and was welcomed by Syrian parliamentary officials.
Boroujerdi is to confer with Syrian president and foreign minister on issue of mutual interests, regional and international developments during his two-day stay in the country.
At the end of his visit, Boroujerdi will attend a press conference to answer the questions to be posed by journalists.
