Iran's deputy Foreign Minister, Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, has held a meeting with the UN, Arab League Envoy to Syria, Lakhdar Brahimi, to negotiate the ongoing unrest in Syria.

Amir-Abdollahian, is in the Egyptian capital, Cairo.

The visit by Amir-Abdollahian is the latest effort by Iran to help find a solution to Syria's unrest.

He reiterated Tehran's support for a political solution to the Syrian crisis.

Brahimi said that there's no military solution to the crisis. Instead, it must be resolved through the talks between the Syrian opposition and the government.

Amir-Abdollahian strongly condemned Qatar on Saturday for allowing the Syrian opposition to open an embassy in Doha.

He called the move as theatrical and hasty, urging Qatar to stop intensifying the conflict in Syria.
