Iran's former president Ayatollah Hashemi Rafsanjani met with country's president-elect Hassan Rouhani today, Mehr news agency reported.

The details of the meeting were not revealed, except for that Rafsanjani wished Rouhani and his new administration success in ruling the country.

It should be noted that Rafsanjani himself registered to participate at Iran's 2013 presidential elections, however was denied due to his age.

Later, he, and another Iranian former president Mohammad Khatami publicly expressed their support for Hassan Rouhani.

At the elections, which were held on June 14, Rouhani gathered 50.7 percent of votes, thus becoming the new president of Iran. Iran's current president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad did not participate in the elections due to country's constitutional laws.
