The Iranian port city of Chabahar is the best path for the trades between Iran, Afghanistan, and India, Afghanistan's Ambassador to Tehran said on Wednesday, Fars news agency reported.

"Afghanistan is negotiating its biggest trade partner, India, to use Iran's Chabahar port's potential for Kabul-New Delhi trades," Nasir Ahmad Noor said.

"Iran and Afghanistan should boost their bilateral trades," he added.

The Afghan Ambassador had previously said on June 13 that once the development plan of Iran's southwestern port city of Chabahar gets finished, the two countries bilateral trade would boost noticeably.

"Kabul currently imports over 5.5 billion dollars worth of goods from Iran," Afghanistan's Ambassador to Tehran said.

"Oil products account for 5.2 billion dollars of the mentioned amount," the IRNA News Agency quoted Nasir Ahmad Noor as saying.

"It is while the two country's bilateral trades were around 500 million dollars three years ago," Noor said.

"The two country's trades in the previous (Iranian calendar year which ended March 20) faced 15 percent increase compared to its preceding (Iranian calendar year)," he added.

"Currently 500 Iranian companies are active in Afghanistan's markets," Noor explained.
