Iran is pursuing to use alternative fuels for power plants ,said the deputy in Thermal Power Plants Holding Company, Trend reports citing Mehr News Agency.
The country is using diesel and mazut as alternative fuels for power plants ,so far 67 percent of fuel tanks filled with diesel while 16 power plants are to use mazut fuel in case of high gas consumption in households, Naser Eskandari noted.
The necessary measures were taken to use various alternative fuels by compliance to environmental issues. The fuel transfer process has accelerated in past two months preparing for the upcoming season.
The Ministry of Energy is concerned over increase of gas consumption in households during winter and possible disrupting gas supply for power plants.
