BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 21. A total of 22 projects will be commissioned in the ports of Khuzestan province, located in the south-west of Iran, this week (from May 20 through May 27), General Director of Ports and Maritime Affairs of Khuzestan Province Behrouz Aghaei said, Trend reports.
According to Aghaei, Minister of Roads and Urban Development of Iran Mehrdad Bazrpash will take part in an event related to the commissioning of facilities in Khuzestan province this week.
He added that the ports where the facilities will be put into operation are the Iranian ports of Emam Khomeyni, Shadgan, Sajafi, Khorramshahr, Abadan, Arvandkanar and Chavibde.
Aghaei said that 52 trillion rials ($1.23 billion) were spent on facilities within the framework of the projects.
The General director noted that 2 agreements will be signed with the private sector to invest in the ports of Khuzestan province. The cost of these agreements will amount to 40 trillion rials (about $952 million).
"The Iranian government will spend 20 trillion rials (about $476 million) to build infrastructure in the ports of Khuzestan province as part of the agreement," he said.
The Iranian province of Khuzestan has a coast with a length of 1,186 kilometers. The main ports of this province are Emam Khomeyni, Shadgan, Sajafi, Khorramshahr, Abadan, Arvandkanar and Chavibde.
