BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 15. It is expected that the electricity network between Iran and Azerbaijan will be expanded by next summer, Iranian Energy Minister Abbas Aliabadi said at a meeting with Azerbaijani Deputy Prime Minister Shahin Mustafayev in Tehran on October 14, Trend reports.

According to him, Iran and Azerbaijan share electricity, and many projects have been put on the agenda to continue and strengthen cooperation between Iran and Azerbaijan.

Aliabadi noted that it has been proposed to connect Russia, Azerbaijan, Iran, the UAE, and Saudi Arabia's electrical networks. This topic has been discussed with the Russian side, and the next meeting will focus on it. This power grid will provide economic benefits to both Azerbaijan and Iran.

“A thorough program for the Giz Galasi and Ordubad hydrosystems is being undertaken, with some enhancements. Based on the consensus reached, it was decided to speed up the implementation of these initiatives. Technical difficulties were discussed, and plans for inspections of both countries' technical facilities were announced,” he said.

Shahin Mustafayev, Azerbaijan's Deputy Prime Minister, said that Iran and Azerbaijan have complex relations and that the two countries have formed fruitful cooperation in the areas of water and electricity, particularly with regard to the hydroelectric projects at Khudafarin and Giz Galasi. is one example that can be given.

Mustafayev noted that electric connections have been established in five places between Iran and Azerbaijan, and an agreement was reached to investigate cooperation regarding this matter. Views were exchanged regarding the synchronization of power grids among Iran, Azerbaijan, and Russia, and it was decided upon the execution of a technical and economic evaluation of this project by an Iranian company.
