Quakes hit southern, eastern Iran

(IRNA) - Eight quakes with the magnitudes, ranging between 3.3 and 5.5 degrees on the Richter scale, have shaken southern Hormuzgan Province since early Thursday.

Tehran University's Geophysics Institute said the strongest quake with a 5.5-Richter magnitude had been sensible in Qeshm island and the port city of Bandarabbas in Hormuzgan Province at 00:32:12 hours local time (21:02:12GMT) Thursday, reports Trend.

No report is yet available on the damage or casualty caused by the disaster.

Based on a related report, a 3.7-Richter quake jolted suburbs of Dasht-e-Kavir in eastern Semnan Province at 07:58:29 hours local time (04:28:29 GMT) on Thursday.
