Iran’s aluminum output surpasses 262K tons

Over 262,900 metric tons of aluminum ingots were produced in Iran in the first nine months of the current Iranian fiscal year (March 21 - Dec. 22, 2014).

The figure is 2000 metric tons more than the projected output for the period, the Iranian Mines and Mining Industries Development and Renovation Organization (IMIDRO) said on Jan. 10.

Arak Aluminum company with 135,413 metric tons production was the biggest producers of aluminum ingot in Iran in the mentioned period, followed by Almahdi Aluminium Company with 72,966 metric tons and Hormozal Aluminum Company with 54,565 metric tons of production.

The country's aluminum ingots output stood at 30,280 metric tons in the 9th Iranian calendar month (Nov. 21-Dec-22, 2104).

About 188,956 metric tons of alumina powder as well as 321,225 metric tons of aluminum hydrate also produced in the country during the 9-month period.

Iran's proven mineral reserves stand at 37 billion tons.

The country ranked among 15 major mineral-rich countries of the world and exports its industrial and mineral products to 159 countries, including Iraq, China, the United Arab Emirates, India and Afghanistan.

The official website of Iran's Industry, Mine, and Trade Ministry names exploratory operations in aluminum and iron ore mines as the top priorities of the ministry for investments.

Aluminum and Iron mines are also among the four top discovery priorities. According to the ministry, Iran daily produces 1.2 million metric tons of minerals.
