Iran has installed the last platform of South Pars Phase 19, completing the phase’s offshore development process.
Platform B19, weighing 1,640 tons, was installed on the platform's jacket at the offshore section, Shana news agency reported March 13.
The platform comes with a nominal output of 14.2 mcm and will come on stream in April to transfer one fourth of Phase 19’s gas (equal to 56 mcm) to the shore.
The platform uses 10,000 inches of pipe, 35,000 meters of cable and precision equipment, as well as 2,100 meters of tubing.
Iran loaded platform 19A of South Pars gas field at southern port of Khorramshar Feb. 12.
Phase 19 of South Pars gas field currently injects 31 million cubic meters of gas into the national gas grid.
Once the phase becomes fully operational, it will produce 57 million cubic meters of sour gas, 80,000 barrels of gas condensates, and 400 tons of sulphur on a daily basis.
South Pars, located in southern region, is divided into 24 development phases, and contains 40 trillion cubic meters of natural gas.
It covers an area of 9,700 square kilometers, 3,700 square kilometers of which are in Iran's territorial waters in the Persian Gulf. The remaining 6,000 square kilometers are in Qatar's territorial waters.
The Islamic Republic is producing over 430 million cubic meters per day (mcm/d) of gas from South Pars, while the production level is projected to surpass 700 mcm/d by late 2018.
