Baku, Azerbaijan, July 28
By Ilgar Emil – Trend:
On July 28th Iranian Customs Administration’s official website reported that the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) would manufacture five X-ray scanners for the container vehicle inspections.
Earlier, Iranian Customs Administration had signed a deal for manufacturing the X-ray scanners with the country’s Defence Ministry. It had also announced the issuance of two international tenders, in November 2016 and May 2017 respectively, for the purchase of 16 sets of mobile X-Ray Inspection Systems dedicated to truck and container inspections.
The Custom’s report stressed out that Iranian scientists have the ability to manufacture X-ray scanners; moreover, signed deal with AEOI is in reality an addition step in the direction of the support of the domestic producer.
Signed deal with AEOI came a day after the passed bill by US Senate imposing sanctions on Iran. Islamic Republic also tested a satellite carrier on July 27, which was greeted with criticism from Washington.
The US State Department called Iran’s launch of a space satellite a “provocative action” that violates UN resolution on the ballistic missiles as well as the spirit of the landmark 2015 nuclear deal between Iran and the six world powers.
