Iran’s Statistical Center has published its quarterly report about employment situation in the country, which covers the autumn of 2017.
According to the report, the number of unemployed Iranians aged over 10 years reached 3.141 million by Dec. 21, 2017.
The unemployment rate among Iranians aged over 10 years in the mentioned period was 11.9 percent, 0.2 percent more compared to Summer of 2017.
All Iranians aged over 10 years, who worked at least one hour a week, or temporary left their work during the survey week, were included as "employed labor force" in the report.
The country's labor force participation rate stood at 40.1 percent (0.9 percent less than summer), equal to 26.47 million.
The participation rate is the percentage of working-age persons in an economy who are employed or unemployed but looking for a job.
Unemployment among men (2.142 million) and women (999,145) was also around 10.1 and 19.1 percent, respectively, during the period.
According to the report, the country's labor force participation rate for men (21.249 million) and women (5.223 million) was 64.1 percent and 15.9 percent, respectively by Dec. 21, 2017.
The country's urban and rural unemployment rate in the mentioned period stood at 13.2 and 8.1 percent, respectively.
The participation rate for country’s urban (19.57 million) and rural (6.899 million) areas also reached 39.5 percent and 42.1 percent, respectively in the same period.
The report indicates that over half of Iran’s labor force was employed in the service sector (11.697 million or 50.1 percent).
About 17.2 percent of the country's labor force was employed in the agriculture sector (4.015 million), while 32.6 percent were employed in the industry (7.612 million) sector.
In total 23.331 million people were employed in various sectors in the country by Dec. 21 2017 (35.4 percent).
The figure was 23.827 million by the end of summer(36.2 percent).
