Exports of livestock and fishery products from Iran stood around $223 million in the first four months of the current Iranian calendar year (started March 21), registering growth compared to the same period of last year.
Iran exported 134,000 tons of livestock products, poultry, seafood, and feed worth $223 million over 4 months to July 22, according to the Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration.
This marks a 30 percent and 22 percent rise in terms of value and tonnage compared to the same corresponding period of last year during which the country exported 110,000 tons of goods.
Morteza Kakavand, an official with Trade Promotion Organization of Iran, said Iraq, Oman, Afghanistan, Germany, Hong Kong, Vietnam and Thailand were among the major destinations of Iranian products.
Livestock and poultry products account for 25 percent of Iran’s total agricultural exports.
More than 137,580 tons of fish and seafood products worth $507 million were exported from Iran during the last fiscal year (March 2017-18), showing a rise of 24 percent and 22 percent in weight and value respectively compared with the preceding year.
