Iran's agricultural trade balance improves amidst increase in exports

Recent statistics of Iran's Ministry of Agriculture's Information Technology and Communications Center state that Iran's agricultural sector in the first half of the current year (a year begins on March 21 in Iran) has shown growth of about 40 percent in exports and an increase of nearly 1 percent in imports, ISNA reported.

The country's trade balance has improved over $1 billion during the reported period.

The trade balance in the first six months amounted to -$2.123 billion. In the same period of last year, this figure was -$3,5 billion.

During the first half of the current Iranian year over 3.5 million tons of agricultural and food products worth $3.141 billion has been exported to different countries.

Also, 9.62 million tons of agricultural and food products worth over $5.26 billion have been imported into the country.

The weight balance of the agricultural and food products sector is -$6.117 million and the trade balance is -$2.123 billion.
