Tehran, Iran, June 19

Trend:

Iranian airline companies intend to buy new planes; however, the sanctions' situation prevent any actions.

Spokesman of Iran's Civil Aviation Organization(CAO) Reza Jafarzadeh discussed the plans to buy new planes in an interview with Trend.

"At the moment, the airline companies intend to buy planes, but the plan for purchases as well as previous contracts are halted," he said.

"No airline company has done any action including Russia," he added referring to rumors of new plane purchase from Russia.

Touching upon the increase of price of flight tickets, he said that Iran's Civil Aviation Organization has not set a new fare for airline companies. "The tickets prices are set based on the turnout of flights and according to supply and demand market," he noted.

According to him, sometimes mediators are setting a rate out of normal framework. That is a violation to which airline companies can object. "The price for foreign flights tickets depends on demand and supply and has no ceiling. Airline companies determine the prices competitively," he added. "The criteria for domestic flight rates is set according to flight seat and the foreign currency rate."

In his words, Iran's Civil Aviation Organization recommends that the sources that sell flight ticket are announced on CAO's website. "By submitting the flight ticket code in the website the buyer can see its validity," he said.

"We would confront any violation of the rules. If airline companies witness mediators committing violation, they should report to CAO. People also can report via organization website. Any unexpected increase of price is considered violation," he said.
