This Iranian year (started March 21, 2019), about 860,000 tons of red meat are expected to be produced in Iran, deputy agriculture minister for livestock affairs Morteza Rezaei said, Trend reports via the website of Iran’s Ministry of Agriculture Jihad.

He said that such a forecast can be made because of the rainy weather in Iran.

He added that the import of red meat has led to price reduction by about 100,000 rials (about $2.38) and the price reduction process will continue.

“This Iranian year, 34,000 tons of beef and 35,000 tons of mutton have been imported,” he said.

Presently, the price of 1kg of beef and mutton in Iran ranges within 650,000-1.11 million rials ($15.4-$26.4 according to official exchange rate and $5-$8.5 according to the black market exchange rate).
