Iranian specialist: New platform to be installed at Salman oil field

S1 platform has been sent to be installed at the Salman oil field, jointly owned by Iran and the UAE and known as Abu Al Bukhoosh in the Emirates, the head of the project on the production of S1 platform for Salman field Alireza Zomorrodian said, Trend reports with reference to the Iranian Offshore Oil Company (IOOC).

The platform will be installed in the middle of the current month (12th month; from Feb.19 to March 20) of the Iranian year, if the weather is favorable, Zomorrodian said.

The S1 platform has been manufactured by Iranian experts and its weight is 1,050 tons, the head of the project said, adding that the installation of this platform will contribute to the increase in the extraction at the field.

Alireza Zomorrodian noted that the platform is expected to start operating in the first half of the upcoming Iranian year (begins on March 21, 2020).

Salman oil field is located 144 km south of Lavan island.

There are 44 oil wells on the Salman field. The reserves of the field reach 4.5 billion barrels of oil. So far, 1.1 billion barrels have been extracted and about 500 million barrels may be extracted.

Reportedly, Iran is producing 60,000 barrels of oil on this field daily.
