BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 12. The volume of transported essential goods from Imam Khomeini Port in Khuzestan Province in southwestern Iran amounted to more than 11.3 million tons in the first 11 months of the current Iranian year (from March 21, 2023 through February 19, 2024), director general of Iran's Khuzestan Province Roads and Transportation Administration Mohammad Jolanejad said, Trend reports.
According to Jolanejad, during 11 months, wheat, barley, corn, oil seeds, sugar, and rice were transported from the Imam Khomeini port terminal to different provinces of the country.
He added that the required products were transported by 477,736 trucks in the mentioned volume. At present, 1,800 trucks enter Imam Khomeini Port daily.
The official noted that a total of 42 million tons of goods have been transported from Khuzestan province to other provinces of Iran within 11 months.
To note, Imam Khomeini port in Iran is located on 11,000 hectares. This port can receive 54.5 million tons of products per year.
During 11 months, 42.5 million tons of cargo were loaded and unloaded at Imam Khomeini Port. The volume of loading and unloading operations at the port increased by 3 percent compared to the same period last year.
