BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 10. Iron ore concentrate production by 10 major Iranian companies increased by 9 percent in the first 11 months of the last Iranian year (from March 21, 2023 through February 19, 2024) compared to the same period of the previous year (from March 21, 2022 through February 20, 2023), the data of Iran's Mining Development Organization (IMIDRO) said, Trend reports.
According to the information, 10 major companies in Iran produced about 46.8 million tons of iron ore concentrate in the first 11 months of the last Iranian year. In the same period last year, the production of large companies was 42.9 million tons.
The report indicates that Gol-Gohar produced 10.7 million tons, Chadormalu 9.88 million tons, Gohar-Zamin-7.97 million tons, Middle East Mining and Mines-4.52 million tons, and Sangan Mining Company-3.63 million tons of iron ore concentrate.
The information added that Central Iron Ore Company produced about 3.56 million tons, Sanabad Company-2.41 million tons, Opal Parsian Sangan-2.37 million tons, Sabanur Company-1.31 million tons, and Jalalabad Company-407,000 tons of iron ore concentrate.
To note, Iran can produce an average of 100 million tons of iron ore concentrate per year. Iron ore concentrate is used in steel production. The potential of steel production in Iran is about 40 million tons per year.
