BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 27. The construction of a new nuclear research reactor has begun in Isfahan Province (central Iran), on October 27, 2022, Trend reports citing Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI).
The Head of Atomic Energy Organization of Iran Mohammad Eslami and other officials attended the event dedicated to the launch of the construction.
This reactor is a light water pool type and its fuel will consist of a 20-percent enriched nuclear plates. In addition, the mentioned nuclear research reactor will be used for testing nuclear fuel materials, production of medical and industrial radioisotopes, research, development and applying neutron beams.
At the same time, the nuclear research reactor will also be used for conducting international trainings in the field of nuclear science.
The designing and construction of the nuclear research reactor is fully carried out by Iranian local specialists.
