BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 16. The US Secretary of Defense, Lloyd Austin, and the Israeli Minister of Defense, Yoav Galant, held a bilateral meeting in Brussels on Thursday, where they exchanged views on developments in regard with Iran's nuclear program, Trend reports.
During the talks, as the US Department of Defense reported, the heads of the defense departments of the two countries agreed to continue working together to address a wide range of threats emanating from Iran, including its nuclear program, as well as destabilizing activities in the region, proliferation of unmanned aerial systems, and other types of weapons and military equipment in the Middle East.
Earlier, Spokesman for the US State Department Matthew Miller during a briefing once again pointed out that there is no deal with respect to Iran’s nuclear program.
Miller added that it continues to be a top priority for the US to prevent Iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon.
"We continue to believe diplomacy is the best path to achieve it. That has been our belief since the beginning of this administration. Unfortunately, the previous administration left the [Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action] JCPOA and allowed Iran to continue marching forward in pursuit of a nuclear weapon. We have tried to pursue diplomacy to constrain their efforts to acquire a nuclear weapon, but we have also made clear that all options remain on the table," he added.
