10.92 per cent of electorate voted in Armenian presidential elections by 11 a.m.

As of 11 a.m., 10.92 per cent of the total number of the electorate had voted in the Armenian presidential elections, Mediamax reported. This was verified by the country’s Central Election Commission, which said 275,982 had voted by11 a.m.

As of 11 a.m., 10.92 per cent of the total number of the electorate had voted in the Armenian presidential elections, Mediamax reported. This was verified by the country's Central Election Commission, which said 275,982 had voted by11 a.m.

Some 86,601 voters participated in the elections in Yerevan or 10.5 per cent of the total number of those eligible to vote.

At the previous presidential elections held on Feb.19, 2008, voter turnout as of the same time was 11.2 per cent or 265,533 voters.

The sixth Armenian presidential elections are underway today from 08:00 to 20:00 local time. The head of state is elected for five years.

Those running for the presidency are the incumbent president and ruling Republican Party leader Serzh Sargsyan, former Prime Minister Hrant Bagratyan, chairman of the Heritage Party Raffi Hovhannisyan, Paruyr Hayrikyan, Arman Melikyan, Andreas Ghukasyan and Vardan Setrakyan.
