Leader of "Heritage" opposition party Raffi Hovhannisyan, who lost the presidential elections in Armenia, said on Sunday that he stops hunger strike, which he has held since March 10 while protesting against the election results, RIA Novosti reported today.

Leader of "Heritage" opposition party Raffi Hovhannisyan, who lost the presidential elections in Armenia, said on Sunday that he stops hunger strike, which he has held since March 10 while protesting against the election results, RIA Novosti reported today.

Hovhannisyan came out of his tent in Freedom Square in central Yerevan and thanked all those who supported him. He also thanked the journalists who covered the events at the Freedom Square.

Hovhannisyan did not recognize the election results and appealed them at the Constitutional Court. He almost every day hold rallies of his supporters demanding to recognize him as the president.

Presidential elections were held in Armenia on February 18. According to the official results, the incumbent President Serzh Sargsyan won the presidential elections with 58.64 percent of the votes. Raffi Hovannisian ranked second with 36.74 percent.
