Georgian President to Visit St.-Petersburg to Attend CIS Summit

Georgia, Tbilisi 6 June / corr. Trend N.Kirtskhalia/ The Georgian President Michael Saakashvili will visit St.-Petersburg to participate in the CIS informal summit in the second half of 6 June. During the visit, the Georgian and Russian Presidents are scheduled to meet privately, the Georgian President's Administration said. The exact time of this meeting is still to be announced.

In the run-up, the Georgian President stated that the Russian President Dmitriy Medvedev is a distinguished politician and is optimistic about this meeting. Georgia demands the cancellation of the Russian President's decree, dated 16 April, to establish special relations with the Georgian separatist regions, as well as the withdrawal of Russian troops from Abkhazia, Saakashvili said
