Georgian commercial banks’ assets rise

Georgia's banking sector is represented by 21 commercial banks as of April 1, 2014.

Georgian National Bank told Trend on April 25 that compared to the previous month, the commercial banks' total assets increased by 0.4 billion laris ($1 = 1.75 lari) or by 2.5 percent, standing at $17.6 billion.

The banking sector's own funds totalled three billion laris, which is equal to 17.3 percent of total assets.

The foreign capital in Georgian banks' total capital amounted to 78.7 percent.

The banking sector finalized the previous month with a profit. The net income on March was 18.5 million laris.

The share of five Georgian largest banks in total banking sector assets stood at 76.4 percent.
