Tbilisi, Georgia, Aug. 31
By Nana Kirtzkhalia - Trend:
The border checkpoint in the village of Sarpi between Georgia and Turkey was operating erratically on Aug. 31 due to power outage.
Electricity automatically went off at the checkpoint on Aug. 30 due to heavy rains, and therefore electronic systems were out of order.
This made it difficult for vehicles and citizens to cross the border both from Georgian and Turkish sides.
Reportedly, citizens had to wait in lines for four or five hours.
Additionally, a three to four km-long queue of vehicles was formed at the border.
