Georgian President Giorgi Margvelashvili has cancelled his visit to the U.S.

The president was invited to this country by UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon to attend the UN climate summit, which is scheduled to be held on Sept. 23, in New York.

"The visit has been actually disrupted as a result of Georgian government's efforts, as the scheduled meetings have been disrupted," he said at a briefing on Sept.11.

However, Georgian president didn't specify who has disrupted his visit to New York.

"The disruption of my visit will not contribute to democracy in Georgia. I just seek to approve the creation of investigative institutions in Georgia and will continue to serve my country under the constitution," Margvelashvili stressed.

Georgian government insisted on cancellation of President Margvelashvili's visit, as only one delegation should go to New York to take part at UN General Assembly meeting and this delegation should be led by Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili.
